This year we called Magic. Paul came over and told us we should have the line inspected. So using his camera scope he showed us a sewer line full of grease and tree roots and the only way to remove all this stuff was to hydro jet. So we let have at it an hour later after hydro cleaning the drain he showed us the drain again. WOW it was as clean as a whistle. He explained the other plumbers were just snaking with a cable, they were not actually removing all the debris. Well I think we will continue with Magic.

Today we woke up and there was water in the basement. They had a plumber over within 30 minutes. It was our water heater leaking and it looks like it had been doing so for a few days. Frank the plumber gave us a good price and he had it replaced within a few hours, lucky for us we live near a plumbing supply house. My drain sink drain was clogged, I called a few plumbers and each one gave me a window of 2 to 3 hours. They asked me if I would provide them with a reference so here goes. My basement drain was clogged the water was flowing out into the back yard and into the neighbors yard. I called and they had a plumber at my door in 20 minutes. The plumber had a quick look at the flood went back to his truck pulled a long hose out, put the hose into the drain and after 10 minutes and a little noise from a machine the basement was clear. I was getting ready for a date when the drain clogged in the shower.  I grabbed the plunger to fix it, thinking to myself that I probably looked like such a goon.  Here I was with soap and shampoo cascading off of me and jumping up and down to no avail.  How was I going to get this fixed, finish showering and get to the other side of San Francisco in less than two hours?

Luckily for me I was able to get a good plumber on the phone who said he would be over in no time.  I was a bit worried that they were going to be late and I was going to miss my date, but the San Francisco based plumber arrived in 30 minutes.

Once the plumber got to my house he went to work on it immediately and like magic they were in and out.  They simply took a tool they called a snake and fixed the problem. 

Though the drain clogged before, I never did much to fix it and on occasion I would get a bottle of some of the liquid stuff.  The more I used some of the cheap liquid stuff, the more the drain seemed to clog. He had it fixed in about 15 minutes.

I talked to the plumber about the liquid stuff and they told me that some of the liquid stuff can actually cause serious problems over time, they damage the pipes.  Some older homes in San Francisco have certain types of pipes that are jointed together with stuff that the liquid cleaners eat away, making the problem worse.

Thankfully I was able to get to my date in time and my plumbing problems seem to be fixed for good.  If you have a drain clogged and nothing seems to be working, do not pour gallons of cleaners down the drain, just call a professional with the right tools to fix it like magic.
